Chicago, Illinois - August 24, 2009 - Eurotech® Soccer Academy has been the training ground of choice for many international students in the past wanting to get in front of top European coaches and this summer was no exception. Eurotech® welcomed it’s first group from Colombia as The Columbus School from Medellin, Colombia attended the two-week international academy at Lake Forest College, just north of Chicago July 4-17.
Alfonso Uribe, President of The Columbus School Sports Club contacted Eurotech® National Director, Jim Risher a year ago and started the process of organizing the group to attend the globally recognized training academy in Chicago. The purpose of the school attending the Eurotech® Soccer Academy was three-fold: 1) To experience the training provided by Eurotech and get a different perspective from professional European coaches, 2) To experience American Culture and brush up on their English speaking skills and 3) To learn more about the College/University system in America and how to be recruited by college coaches.
Eurotech® National Director, Jim Risher stated "I think the program was a huge success despite the cultural learning curve both myself, the staff and the Colombian team endured over the two week training camp. I really enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them - the team definately brought a real international flair to the camp and the American students really loved the concept." The Athletic Director for the school, Juan Cardenas, also a former professional soccer player from Colombia also attended the academy as a guest. In addition to daily training, the international students did a full day of sightseeing in Chicago in addition to a full day at Six Flags Theme Park. The international program will be ramping up it’s efforts in 2010 as Eurotech® recruits players from Columbia, Venezuela, Mexico, Holland, United Kingdom and more.
